Terrific house for family gathering

The house was a wonderful get away for our family. It had lots of room to spread out and be comfortable. The basement was a nice entertainment space inside for movies, ping pong and corn hole. Our whole family enjoyed the pool every day. Even though Lake Erie was so close, we did not feel the need to leave the house! The patio and grill by the pool was excellent. The property managers were extremely easy to work with and very attentive. A bad storm passed through the area during our stay and we lost power for a while and the team let us know of the area outages and follow-up with us.

We may have overpaid

The photos do not all match the reality. The house is somewhat rundown. The playground equipment broken. Weeds around the pool and the gardens. Lots of oddities and good luck with the TV in the theatre room. The listing says three full baths, but only two are full. The manager, a company, was quick to reply but did not do much to fix any of this for us. I urged the company to spend the night in the property. Thinking back over past stays, we dealt directly with the owner (and not a business) so those stays were great. The pool was great (a bit dirty) and the kitchen well-appointed. Plenty of comfortable beds. 15 minutes to the lake. Amherst has a great library that is worth checking out.

Amherst stay

We had a great family vacation with families meeting up from three states here. We were a little disappointed to find that the pool wasn’t heated upon arrival when I made sure to message about that months prior since that was the main reason we were renting this house. We happened to be there on two 90 degree days and the air went out so we had to move all the kids to the basement since it was too hot to sleep upstairs. It seems like certain types of routine maintenance are not actively being done since upon arrival a few of the bathrooms did not have working lightbulbs. So I think some general maintenance would be good on this home. I think it would be a great day in the winter because it is very spacious and you wouldn’t have to worry about the AC problems. But reading upon past reviews it seems like the AC has been an issue for a few years now. We love how much space there is in this home and how we could fit all of our family members. We just encountered a lot of random problems like the dishwasher, not working, the Keurig breaking, the A/C etc.
