Just finished a long weekend at Lights Mountain Lake Overlook, and overall it was a great cabin. The views were as gorgeous as pictured, the wrap around deck was awesome, and the place was very clean. However, there were some clear drawbacks as well.
1) This place is just not at all well stocked. You can’t rely on cabin rentals to have everything that even say an Airbnb would have in terms of toiletries, kitchen items and so forth, but this was pretty poor. There wasn’t a single backup roll of toilet paper in any bathroom, the coffee maker didn’t have an accompany coffee grinder or any filters (comon they’re like $2 for a ton of them), and we had to purchase extra garbage bags since only about 4 were in there for a 10 person trip.
2) I’ve never been to a cabin that didn’t supply firewood. It was really annoying to have to go back down the mountain for firewood after a 10 hour drive to a mountain cabin with 3 fireplaces. Also, the ones indoor are inexplicably not available in the summer. Why the hell not lol? They’re gas powered, and you left a hot tub in working condition. Certainly hot tubs are more cold weather amenities than a fire place lol.
3) There is a ton of proximity to other cabins that didn’t really seem like it was super clearly explained. The neighbors had a bunch of kids running around screaming at all hours of the day and it was very noisy.
Either way, it’s a solid cabin, but be prepared to bring way more supplies and so forth than you’re expecting.
