This cozy and secluded wooded chalet surrounded by natural beauty is a perfect location where time slows down and we are able to enjoy the peacefulness and calm of nature. A location where wildlife abound! In the warm weather you can open the windows and have nature lull you to sleep. The chalet features a light and bright atmosphere with lots of windows to highlight the wooded beauty surrounding the home.
There is DSL internet available. Due to the rural location of this property, internet speed and accessibility are limited.

We are pet friendly but do charge $35 per pet per night which we will charge separately and have a max of 3 pets. Also Please note--we also require additional documentation to be reviewed and signed for all reservations.

We DO NOT allow Early Check-ins and or Late Checkouts during the following time frames:
May-December. It's what we consider our "Busy Season" and therefore cannot accommodate such requests during that time of year.

From January- April...if we can accommodate an early arrival or late check out, there is a $50 fee, for each. The Early Arrival time is 2pm and the Late Check out time is 12pm.
We, however, CANNOT confirm any early arrivals or late check outs until 2 days prior to your arrival. So please do not contact us until then.
The owner may stop every now again to remove trash or to simply check on things.

There is a coded lockbox on the property. We will provide you a code within 5 days of your arrival. The owner will meet you at the house upon your arrival to assist with check-in.
As you walk in, the home features a spacious fully stocked kitchen with full size stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and countertop microwave. The kitchen is stocked with cooking utensils, cookware for up to 12 guests. Prop your feet up and relax in the living room with picture windows and stand-alone fireplace, perfect for a chilly afternoon after a long hike. In the spring and summer, enjoy the screened-in porch for meals while you enjoy the sounds of nature. There is a grill available for your stay as well. All four bedrooms are well appointed with comfortable mattresses, pillows, and bedding. Extra blankets and pillows available to accommodate different comfort levels. The main level bedroom features a queen bed and dresser. There is a full bathroom with tub/shower combo on the main level. All towels are provided for your convenience. Upstairs, you'll find two more spacious bedrooms, one with two full beds and another with a queen bed. Both upstairs bedrooms share a full bathroom. In the basement, there is now one bedroom with a full bed and 2 twins.

The location is perfectly secluded, yet close enough to Harrisonburg to have the best of both worlds! Smoke-free inside the home. Pets are considered with approval from owner (3 pets max, Pet fee required).
The Rural Retreat feels a world away from the hustle and bustle yet only 6 miles from Harrisonburg. Surrounding the home are planted daffodils that are spectacular in the spring. Summer is cooler than Harrisonburg due to the tree covering around the home. Great for hiking. Fall is a great time to enjoy this home during the foliage. Winter is a magical time when the trees are snow covered and the air crisp and clear. Sit and enjoy the cozy fireplace in the great living room.

To make your vacation as stress-free and relaxing as possible, we now offer grocery delivery and set up upon arrival. Groceries can be ordered ahead of time and then delivered and organized for you on the day of your arrival. No need to rush to get to the grocery store prior to arrival. Let us take on this hassle!

We also have 30 and 60 minute private massage (Swedish, deep tissue, etc) and manicure/pedicure options; all in the comforts of your home. Both of these services can accommodate large groups!

All the local tours are masterfully created by the owners themselves to give their guests the ULTIMATE experience! Enjoy half or full day tours with a local driver and a planned itinerary!! All you have to do is show up!

We also offer daily housekeeping services. The housekeepers will provide fresh towels, hand towels, washcloths, remove trash, sweep main level floor and wipe down counters, and freshen bathrooms. $50/day for housekeeping services, $140 for three days of housekeeping, weekly housekeeping special rate of $250.

Experience an authentic Mennonite meal, featuring a locally prepared meal, all handmade and grown on a Mennonite’s farm. Travel is required for this experience. At your meal on the local farm, you will be seated and served family style with the menu selections of your choice and served by the women that handmade all the delicious menu selections.
