“Esta lindo y limpio ”

“This is the worst 5-star all-inclusive experience our family had during christmas. We did not have hot shower for three nights and the room has been freezing cold. We informed the hotel the first night and they kept sending maintenance people without fixing it. And whats worse, they did not really care about our problems. Everytime I called them, I need to explain the situation again. And what I got is 'we will send someone to fix' ' the hotel is fully booked so not possible to change the room'……

“This place was a MAJOR disappointment. 1) The SMELL. It just smelled BAD. I thought initially it was all the seaweed, but one day I walked out far past my bungalow, and the water became much clearer. Near the bungalow, it just looked, funky, and SMELLED. I discovered upon returning home, that the expansion of large hotels has put a strain on the sewer system. I searched DuckDuckGo for: "Playa De Carmen sewage issues", and this was the result: "Playa del Carmen faces significant sewage issues……

“I’ve been to Akumal & Playa Blanca secrets.. this ranks last in our list. The property seemed worn down, food quality was not a good as the other secrets, and overall the service was very slow at any restaurant we dined in. Probably will not return to this property. When you’ve been to other high quality resorts.. you kinda expect almost the same experience.”

“The resort had all the basics but lacked in almost every way with details that make all the difference between feeling 'okay and like we will make this work for the week' versus feeling actually happy and good about choosing this resort. Staff for the most part were super friendly and timely with drinks and food, which was a highlight. Easy access to walk to all the 5th avenue stuff was a highlight. The care of the property was a big miss in terms of cracking tiles, chipping paint, yellowing……

“Our first time at the Valentin and it did not disappoint. We had a swim up suite and the room was amazing. Huge bathroom and shower. The bar staff at the pool were all great and very attentive. We saw the famous iguana, Kevin, and he’s quite impressive. Beautiful grounds, lots of wildlife and birds. Food was great. It is a little difficult to find the concierge sometimes to make a reservation for the Hibachi restaurant but we just showed up one night and had no problem getting a seat. The spa……

“They mainly have 2X beer the mixed drinks are low quality. AC in the room was fantastic, you don’t have to make reservations for the steak restaurant which it was really good, my wife had a lobster! Was great. I was disappointed about the drinks but everything else was great.”

“Comfy beds, perfect temperature in the rooms~ we just had just the basic room and it was great! Loved the balcony in the room as it overlooked a secluded little area of fauna- often watched wildlife from our view. The pool was delicious! Food was good too for the most part. Farther from town than we expected but found the local van transport into town for cheap- would recommend this place to stay.”
